We Travel...Slowly
Barb and I are slow travelers
Not slow as in moving at a snail’s pace or missing things—slow as in staying put. We like to settle into a place for a month or more. Retirement makes that possible, and honestly, it’s one of its best perks.
Traveling slow usually means renting an apartment (or an Airbnb). We get more space, more time, and we spend less money. Having a kitchen alone is a win—morning coffee at home costs cents, not dollars, and it feels a little more like our pre-travel life.
Barb summed it up best, “I like opening my front door and being somewhere different,” which pretty much says it all.
We discovered that being outside your home country has a way of sharpening your awareness. You start to notice how much we all have in common as human beings, while also appreciating the small differences shaped by culture. For example: Everywhere, people have their own language, customs, and traditions, passed down through generations. And everywhere, people mark life’s big moments (birth, growing up, partnerships, remembering those who’ve passed) with ritual.
Put simply, humans everywhere create culture, live within it, and pass it on.
Barb and I just happen to love experiencing that firsthand.
So, join us as we travel and experience all that exist outside our travel front door.
See you on the Journey,
Rock and Barb
