Why We Travel

RnB Vilacambmba adj.png

We have traveled the world for much of the last two years.

We are often asked, “Why?”

Because the fabric of the humanity is beautiful and varied and we want to experience it first hand.

We’ve touched the Great Pyramids of Egypt, circled Mount Everest, sipped wine in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, walked the Coliseum of Rome, sat in revered silence in the The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, hiked the Andes Mountains, swum with sharks off the coast of Cape Town and so much more.

Savoring the rich and varied corners of the world brings a humble, and deep appreciation for all this life has to offer, and as senior citizens, we know our chance to live this life is limited.

Trust us when we say, this life of travel isn’t for everyone: Long airline journeys (17 hours to Ethiopia); language barriers (Turkish is a very difficult language to understand); unfamiliar food choices (too spicy is relative); figuring out the local currency (the exchange rate in Hanoi was so high that we were each walking around with millions in our pockets); and finding one’s way around is always a challenge.

And still, we love and treasure all the hurdles and rewards of our journeys.

However, it is the people we meet that offers the richest reward. All humanity is similar. We all love, cry, laugh, love our friends and families. It is those things that bind us all. But it is the beautiful differences of culture that deepens our love, respect and understanding of the magnificent, intricate weave of the fabric of humanity.

We travel to experience more than just the our small thread in humanity’s fabric.

See you on the journey.
